Upcoming Events
Pop-ups and info tables
Our volunteers host pop-ups and info tables throughout the year. Among our various offerings:
- Personal safety pop-ups, often focused on at-risk groups in our neighbourhood (e.g., older adults, 2SLGBTQ-identified, newcomers to Canada).
- Project 529 bike registrations and bike safety stations.
- Seasonal distribution of reflectors, pocket ashtrays, etc.

Presentations, workshops, & forums
One of our most important mandates is public education aimed at improving personal and public safety, as well as participation and inclusion in our community.
If you are part of a group, organization, or business in the West End or Coal Harbour, you are welcome to request a presentation from our trained and experienced staff. These are offered at no cost. We have offerings available on a variety of topics, including:
- Personal and community safety (our general presentation)
- Frauds and scams
- Seniors safety
- Newcomers to Canada and law enforcement
- Discrimination, hate crimes and hate incidents
- Youth safety
- Transit safety
If you’d like to request a presentation, please fill out the form here:

We plan and host safety forums, usually in collaboration with VPD and/or other first responders or safety organizations (e.g., Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, ICBC). We are open to partnering with organizations who share our interests and goals. If you’d like to be on our mailing list, send your name and contact details to outreach@wechcpc.com.
Community clean-ups
Throughout the year, in all types of weather, our volunteers are in the community removing waste from sidewalks, public spaces, and beaches. Sometimes we do this on our own, sometimes alongside community partners, like Gordon Neighbourhood House. This follows the well-established principle that cleaner neighbourhoods are safer neighbourhoods.
Sometimes, our volunteers are involved in removing graffiti and stickers from public amenities. If your group is interested in exploring a clean-up partnership, contact us at outreach@wechcpc.com.

Project 529
Project 529 is an online registry which helps deter the theft of bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters; and helps recover stolen or lost items. The program started in Vancouver, and was piloted at our CPC; and now has more than 3.1 million registered bicycles worldwide. Today, bikes are being returned to owners, even across international borders, and thefts in Vancouver have declined by 70% since 2015.
We will register your bike, e-bike, or e-scooter; or supply you with a shield upon proof of registration online (including photographs). Just drop by our office anytime Mon-Sat, 10 am to 5:30 pm. If you are registering, you will need to bring your bike, e-bike, or e-scooter with you.

Child Car Seat Installation Training
Learn or improve your knowledge of how to safely instal a child car seat from one of our BCAA-certified Child Passenger Safety Educators! During an hour-long 1:1 session, you’ll learn about how to safely select, instal, and use seats appropriate to a child’s age and size; as well as other tips on keeping a child safe during vehicle travel.
Contact outreach@wechcpc.com for more information. There is no cost for this service, but donations are accepted.

Shield Your Sip
Shield Your Sip (SYS) is an initiative of six Vancouver CPCs aimed at reducing the risk of drink-spiking. Every year, unsuspecting clubgoers and attendees of public events are unsuspectingly drugged by criminals looking to take advantage of the victim, either through theft or sexual assault, or both.
At pop-up events and at local clubs, the SYS project distributes reusable, silicone drink-shields, which have a hole for a straw. Used properly, the shields prevent others from adding anything to your drink. If you’d like to request a shield for yourself, contact outreach@wechcpc.com.

Supporting community events
Throughout the year, our volunteers assist local organizations with safety-related activities at their events. Whether it’s an organized run, Pride festivities, or other activities, our volunteers will staff barricades, assist with crowd control, and answer questions from the public. If your group in interested in exploring a partnership with us, email your enquiry to outreach@wechcpc.com.
